Isobel is 20 mo old

Since last I posted Isobel has turned 20 months old. She's learning so much every day. Her vocabulary is growing so quickly I can't even keep up. We are still working on the potty training - some days are better than others. But we have faith that it won't be too much longer. She has this thing about wearing her panties over her diaper. And not just one pair, but two. She likes one Elmo pair and one Winnie the Pooh pair. Don't know why, but she does. And she likes to help clean. She's so happy to push the Swiffer around and even tries to help me vacuum. Definitely hope that's a habit she keeps as she gets older. She still has a thing about wearing Mommy's shoes - no matter how high the heels are. Here is a video of her most recent fun activity - spinning. But she is definitely in the "terrible twos" temper tantrum phase. She is constantly testing her boundaries and trying to find some control. But she is just like her Mommy when it comes to food - if she doesn't eat she's a bear. Here she is playing with her ladybug tent that Nana and PawPaw got her. It took her a little while to get used to it, but once she did, she loved it. I look forward to when we can actually use it in the backyard (there's a 3 month window when it's not too hot or cold). Hopefully she'll enjoy it so we can plan other camping trips.
We haven't made much progress on the house. Several other problems that need fixing have come up and taken priority. But we all still love the house and look forward to having it completed.
A couple weeks ago Tim and PawPaw went to see Grandpa Bob on Isla Muejeres and went fishing. Didn't catch any sail fish but they had a good time on the water. We need to get Isobel her passport so we can all go next time.

Fourth of July and Since

Well we had a great 4th of July. We had lots of family and friends over for great food, swimming and fun. Paul made some awesome chili burritos. Everyone brought yummy yummy food and goodies. It was a great time. Isobel became fast friends with Dekin's girls, especially Juliette. She didn't go anywhere without them.
We are ever so slowly putting the house together. We haven't made any progress on painting, etc. but we have some furniture out, a couple of rugs, and we even hung curtains today. Yes, we will have to take them done when we finally do get around to painting, but the house was getting too hot without any window coverings. We still need to buy a new blower to get the pine needles off the roof and get the lawn mower fixed, but the list goes on and on. If it's not one thing its another right?!
Isobel is doing great. She is saying several new words every day. She is like a little sponge, soaking up every word and experience around her. And she absolutely loves walking around in Mommy's shoes - even my high heels. She still is not potty trained and there have been several accidents - some bigger than others. But it's all a process. We are proud of her every day.

Isobel Pee Pees in the Potty!

Yes, that's right, Isobel finally pee peed in the potty tonight. And not just once, but twice. We are so proud of her. And she was proud of herself too. She knew she did something good. She kept saying "I did it" and while I was getting her dressed for bed she said she was a big girl. I can't belief how much she's grown up.

I do have to apologize for the delay in updating the blog. Since last I posted we have moved into the new house, Grandpa Bob came for a visit, Mommy had a birthday and Isobel turned 19 months old. We've been trying to unpack and get settled but we still have so much work to do. Isobel's room and the master bedroom are the only rooms that are done, everything else needs work. And it took me forever to find the USB cord to download my pictures.

Isobel is intently investigating the latch strap of her car seat. Apparently it's fascinating. Now, this one is funny - Isobel decided to put on a pair of my underwear and carry my purse down the hall. All she was missing was the shoes. I love this one of Isobel walking Riley - well more like Riley walking Isobel. And here's Isobel walking with Grandpa Bob. It was great that she took to him after not seeing him since Christmas.

Happy Birthday Grandpa Bob

Isobel wants to send birthday wishes to Grandpa Bob. She helped Daddy make this sign today. She's been practicing her Spanish and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Our New Home!

Well, it's official. We are now the proud owners of a second mortgage! It comes complete with 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, a 2 car garage a fireplace and a pool. After 3 extensions and 89 days, we finally closed today. We will have the hardwood floors refinished, carpets replaced, scrap the "lovely" wallpaper in Isobel's room and paint and then we'll be able to move in. You can see that we wasted no time in starting to remove the wallpaper in the living room. We can only hope that it all comes off this easily. If all goes as planned we could move in as soon as 2 weeks - perhaps a great birthday present. Here are a couple of pictures to show you a taste.

Happy Memorial Day!

Today was a very nice Memorial Day! We took Isobel to the Del Hommes Splash Park and had a great time. The first time Isobel went to the splash park she wanted nothing to do with it. She watched the kids from my lap. Today she got a little wet and even sat on the alligator while it spit water at everyone else.  This is a great park - it has the Splash Park and a huge playground with equipment for kids of all ages. Daddy took Isobel down the slide and she rode in the swings - she had a great time. While Daddy made dinner Isobel decided to try on various items as hats. We had dinner together (for I think only the second time since Tim usually works so late) and after dinner we blew some bubbles with Grandma. She's growing up so fast. I know I say that a lot, but it's true.

Isobel is 18 mo old

Well, Isobel is 18 months old now and you would think she was 18 years old. She's still the most beautiful and sweet little girl, but she has a diva personality that rivals even Beyonce or J-Lo. I guess you can say we are officially in the terrible twos. We had her 18 mo well visit with the pediatrician and the doctor was very impressed with Isobel's vocabulary and sense of imagination. Isobel likes to feed and give drinks to her Abby and Elmo dolls, as well as let you know when they've gone poop and need to be cleaned. Seriously. It's so sweet. She even brushes their hair and teeth.  But when Isobel wants something, she wants it and is willing to scream and cry - even to the point of getting sick, which she did today.
The doctor gave us a new prescription for her never ending runny nose and cough. She hates the taste but after only 2 doses she's already showing signs of improvement. And after 8 weeks of being sick I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel too. Although my doctor wants me to go to an allergist. I have an appointment on June 2 so we'll see how that goes.
Everyone is doing good. It's Tim's birthday tomorrow and we'll be spending a quite day as a family. We were hoping to celebrate in our new house but we still haven't closed yet. The banks are dragging their feet. Which is a shame because we have this long weekend when we could be getting so much work done.
Take care and have a safe and happy Memorial Day!
